The number one focus and vision for CV Surf Soccer Club is to provide an Athletic and Academic culture among Players, lead by Professionally talented & passionate coaching staff, then encouraged and supported by fantastic parents and members. These ingredients, with lots of patience, encouragement and dedication is what lead our 2019 Graduating class of 26 seniors to be celebrated and recognized this week at our club-wide event.
Leading the CV Surf Girl’s team graduating class is our very own Director of Coaching, and Head Coach, Vince Meyer and co-coached by Manuel Mayen. For 2019, 11 female seniors will go on to play, and study at schools like San Jose State, Chico State, CSU-San Marcos, Notre Dame de Namur, Occidental College, San Joaquin Delta College and Modesto Junior College. “I am so very proud of all of our young ladies for both their academic discipline, matched by their athletic drive and commitment” says coach Meyer. “Additionally, with a unique collaboration of shared effort this past year with neighboring club, Galt FC’s Kevin Brown and Mike Kelley, CV Surf was able to offer an opportunity for their top talented players to thrive and peak their senior year, and take advantage of a thriving game plan to prepare for college athletics and academics. “We saw a common interest of combining two very talented roster of players to ensure that the group as a whole complimented one another at the highest level of girls youth competitions. This is what youth soccer should be about…the kids. Both CV Surf SC and Galt FC both share in the pride of the success of this graduating girls class, and their accomplishments.”
Leading our very talented young men was coach David Stockton, and Gerardo Celis, and supported heavily by Team Manager Seng Sphabmixay. This passionate group of young men will go on to play at some great colleges, like Ottawa University, Dominican University, Academy of the Arts, William Jessup University, and San Joaquin Delta College, while others will be taking advantage of academic opportunities at successful university campus’ like Cal Berkley, University of the Pacific, Sacramento State, and San Jose State. “These young men are very talented soccer players, and have shown great academic discipline and success in the classroom, which is even more to celebrate for their families” coach David Stockton. Other players like Braulio Celis, will attend college towards a degree of his choice, while also pursuing professional soccer like his older brother, and Stockton standout Claudio Celis. And we can’t forget to mention another special CV Surf standout athlete, Fillipe “Flip” Figueroa. Flip has played for the club since the age of 8 years old, and in his last two years of high school was playing both Football and Soccer, and being heavily recruited by Division I colleges in both sports. Flip ultimately chose an outstanding American Football opportunity offered to him by the Head Coach of UC Davis. “As the President of CV Surf SC and all of our members, and the proud father of Robert Gonzalez (headed for Ottawa University), it brings me great pleasure to see this master plan of our club bring to fruition both athletic and academic college opportunities for our graduating classes each year. We appreciate all of our players and families alike, as this is all a partnership process over time that allows our players to dream big.
Now with the partnership of one of the most successful youth soccer organizations in the nation, the Surf Nation, along with U.S. Club Soccer and Norcal Premier, our potential for continued future success stories is very bright.” For playing opportunities with CV Surf Soccer Club, Register to tryout at www.CVSurg.org For Questions: Contact Vince Meyer / Director of Coaching 209-607-4849 / DOC@CVSurf.org
